Uok

The Uok or Ook is a delicacy usually served during special occasion like Christmas. It is harvested by the mangyans and sold to the town. The mangyans normally exchange uok for clothes or rice. There are many variety of this insect larvae but the edible one is found only in a tree which is locally called "Dungon". It is usually boiled in water and sauteed in oil. It is also used as the main ingredient in sinigang.
